Lagos Fashion Week 2026: The Street Style Was the Real Show
Just when you thought fashion season had wrapped up after Paris, Lagos reminded everyone there's one more stop that matters. Unlike most fashion weeks that run twice a year, Lagos Fashion Week happens only once a year — which makes it a key date on the calendar for Africa's luxury labels, and puts extra pressure on the city's style crowd to deliver.
One chance a year to dress up
That rare scheduling means Lagos street style only gets one annual moment to shine, and this season people came prepared. The Nigerian fashion scene's love of vivid colour was everywhere: crimson overshirts pinned with golden brooches, chartreuse slip dresses stacked with golden bangles, and silhouettes that were bold but never fussy.
What walked the runway
Orange Culture returned home to Lagos after several seasons showing in Berlin, with Adebayo Oke-Lawal blending sleek modernism with traditional accents. Fruché, back from Berlin Fashion Week, showed sculptural wooden bodices and Grecian printed gowns, while IAMISIGO presented statuesque pieces woven from natural fibres.
